First Blooms Unfolding was created alongside two other floral paintings as I explored a similar idea across different canvas sizes.
There was a growing confidence in my approach as I painted these pieces—less hesitation, more freedom, and a willingness to trust the marks as they unfolded.
Loose pink blooms stretch across this square canvas above a rounded green vessel, surrounded by deep garden greens, soft blue, earthy neutrals, and expressive golden lines.
Of the three First Blooms paintings, this one feels especially open to me.
The flowers aren't arranged perfectly. They move in different directions. Some seem fully open while others are still finding their way.
And maybe that's what unfolding actually looks like.
We don't become who we're meant to be all at once. Growth happens gradually—in layers, through experimentation, through showing up again, and through learning to trust what is taking shape.
