First Blooms Reaching was created alongside two other floral paintings as I explored a similar idea across different canvas sizes. There was a growing confidence in my approach as I painted these pieces—less hesitation, more freedom, and a willingness to trust the marks as they unfolded. In this tall, narrow piece, loose pink blooms seem to reach upward from a rounded green vessel. Deep garden greens, soft blue, expressive marks, and golden lines move throughout the painting, giving this small original an energy that feels both playful and alive. For me, this piece became a reminder of what can happen when we are willing to keep reaching toward what is growing. Growth doesn't always happen dramatically. Sometimes it looks like taking the next step, trying something new, trusting what is developing, and allowing ourselves room to become. Small in scale but full of movement and expressive detail, First Blooms Reaching was created to bring a joyful little moment of color, beauty, and possibility into the spaces where everyday life happens.
