A Garden Moment with Jesus: Learning to Slow Down and Listen
There have been a few themes gently weaving together lately in my life.
Watering what you want to grow.
Staying rooted in Jesus.
Prepared soil.
And the more I’ve reflected on all of it, the more I’ve realized something:
healthy growth always leads back to relationship.
Not striving.
Not performance.
Relationship.
A few years ago, I walked through a season of deep inner healing and participated in a Bible study called Father’s House that truly changed my life.
It helped me begin understanding something I don’t think I fully grasped before:
Jesus is always listening.
Not just in church.
Not only in emergencies.
Not only when we have the perfect words.
But in the quiet moments too.
In the slowing down.
In the honest prayers.
In the moments where we finally stop performing long enough to simply sit with Him.
🌿 Learning to Slow Down
For much of my life, I lived with urgency in my body.
Always moving.
Always thinking.
Always trying to “figure things out.”
But healing began teaching me something different:
God often speaks gently.
Not through fear.
Not through confusion.
Not through pressure.
But through peace.
Over time, I began noticing how He would bring things to mind:
Scripture
gentle reminders
impressions
images
dreams
nudges in my spirit that always led me back toward truth and closer to Him
And I think many of us are longing for closeness with God while simultaneously filling every quiet space with noise.
We rarely pause long enough to listen.
🌸 He Is Near
Scripture says:
“You do not have because you do not ask.” — James 4:2
I think sometimes we stop asking because we quietly assume:
He feels distant
we’re too messy
we should already know how to pray
or maybe He only speaks to “certain people”
But relationship with Jesus was never meant to be performance-based.
He is near.
He welcomes honesty.
He is patient with us while we learn how to recognize His voice and stay grounded in His truth.
And while everything should always align with Scripture and the character of God, I believe many of us are missing the beauty of simply slowing down enough to seek Him.
🌿 Creating Space to Meet with Him
So I created something gentle.
A simple journal guide called:
✨ A Garden Moment with Jesus
A quiet place to:
slow down
open Scripture
be honest
ask
listen
respond
Not perfectly.
Just honestly.
Because sometimes the most life-changing moments with Jesus happen quietly.

There is no pressure here.
Just presence.
